Item Uso de las redes sociales y su impacto en el rendimiento Académico de los estudiantes de la Carrera de Comunicación Social de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicación Social, 2017-05) Miniguano Silva, Danny Alexis; Martínez Bonilla, Carlos AlbertoThe use that university students give to social networks can be a factor that affects their academic performance because they have implanted these platforms in their daily activities, including educational activities. Their use has become common in the university classrooms due to the wide communicative and interactive possibilities that they offer for free. Because of the accelerated growth of the social networks phenomenon, the need to study the behavior of students before of the use of these virtual platforms in the classroom, to investigate if their use can have an impact on the learning and performance of their studies because when they connect to these sites in the Internet they can lose the concentration of what is being explained in classes, engaging in other activities that do not contribute to academic achievement. For the gather of direct information from the field of study, the survey was used as a useful tool in investigation that allowed the extraction of real information from social communication students enrolled in the academic period October 2016 March 2017. After the application of the whole survey the collected information was analyzed, represented in tables and statistical graphics, concluding that social networks have an impact on academic performance, reason why it is followed as a proposal to design radio spots so the students can have knowledge of this reality present in the classrooms and create responsible behavior for the benefit of their studies.
