(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Mena Tigmasa, Jessica Dayana; Castro Solórzano, Fidel Alberto
For years, drinking water treatment plants have been designed empirically and others based on international standards, the lack of information about technological advances for water purification in Ecuador is scarce and this has caused several sectors to consume water with bacteria, parasites or microorganisms that affect human health. In the present work, the drinking water treatment plant of a rural parish in Pujilí was evaluated using theoretical, objective, justification and normative guidelines. Within the methodology, the information of the place was collected, data was taken on the operational status of the drinking water treatment plant, water samples were analyzed in a laboratory that allowed comparing the permissible limits for human consumption by applying the INEN 1108 and TULSMA 2015 standards. Next, a study of each element that makes up the drinking water treatment plant, its operation, inlet and outlet flow, and its dimensions were analyzed according to the parameters based on the RAS 2000 and CO 10.7-602 standards. Finally, based on the results, strategies were suggested to optimize the operation of the plant as well as observations within each process and the results will be used for future studies that will help to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the parish of La Victoria.
