    This research studies the portfolio recovery and its impact on the profitability of Mabetex Company in Ambato during 2015, where the credit and collection policies of Mabetex Company were diagnosed, considering that they are not adequate. Besides that, the staff does not know them, neither has it had the necessary tools for credit assessment. Most of the field study indicated that the credit assessment is moderate and the number of arrears of payment is high, which was confirmed by the application of indicators on the credit assessment of the analyzed years, so the portfolio recovery does affect the profitability of the company. Also, the levels of profitability of Mabetex Company were sized up. These levels indicate that there has been a decrease comparing the profitability in 2014 and 2015, which shows that it can be related to the proper portfolio indicators which do evince problems, proving in this way the relationship between the variables by means of the chi square statistician. It is evident that it is necessary to develop strategies allowing the successful management and control of the client’s portfolio of Mabetex Company in order to obtain better results.
