Sleep, being a physiological necessity, is in charge of regulating the recovery and rehabilitation process from the disease, when it is altered, the number of awakenings increases, sleep becomes fragmented, becoming non-restorative, which triggers more infections, mood swings, longer hospital stay and increased mortality. To determine the incidence of stressful factors that cause sleep disturbances in patients in the Internal Medicine hospital area. The research is of a quantitative type with a descriptive observational approach of a crosssectional cohort, an instrument based on the Oviedo instrument was drawn to have evaluated situations that the patient could experience during his hospital stay. It is evident that a large number of patients present some type of fall in the sleep-rest pattern, this is due to both internal and external factors in which the concern of leaving home, pain and lighting lamps stands out. Conclusion: Strategies that help reduce the number of patient awakenings should be prioritized in order to provide improvements in well-being and reduce the number of days of hospitalization
