    The present research work was to question knowing what factors influence the mother for early cessation of breastfeeding, for this a population sample that included 302 healthy mother and children younger than 6 months which come took are Control in the Health area 2 Tungurahua Province. The approach was qualitative, using field research with a descriptive level, it showed that factors influencing mothers for early termination of the development of breastfeeding are maternal occupation (work or studies), as to play a leading role in the economic livelihood of home claimed lack of time for exclusive breastfeeding, as well as mothers who resume studies and ignore the responsibility of breastfeeding; maternal age (teenage mothers continue to have a significant percentage in society, which is evident not only in the country but also in the region); marital stability, mothers with stable couples denote more frequent realization exclusive breastfeeding, parental presence in the family provides a positive psychological aspect of mothers; lack of knowledge about breastfeeding is denoted in direct relation to its non-development. It was determined that 52.9% of mothers perform a breastfeeding as guidelines of the World Health Organization. The reasons why mothers chose to start an artificial or mixed feeding were maternal occupation (employment, student), low milk production and a lesser percentage breast pain and cracked nipples
