Item EVALUACIÓN DE LAS CONCENTRACIONES SÉRICAS DE PROLACTINA EN RELACIÓN AL USO DE ANTICONCEPTIVOS HORMONALES EN MUJERES DE EDAD FÉRTIL (18-29 AÑOS) DE LA FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS DE LA SALUD(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Laboratorio Clínico, 2024-08-05) Gómez Tibán, Nahomi Monserrath; Moina Veloz, Álvaro PaúlProlactin (PRL) is a protein hormone produced and released in the anterior pituitary gland or adenohypophysis. It has various biological functions, but it plays its main role in stimulating the mammary gland during the lactation period. However, one of the nonphysiological reasons why prolactin can increase is the use of estrogens, which are components of hormonal contraceptives intended to prevent pregnancy in women. The objective of the present study was to analyze blood samples from students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Technical University of Ambato to determine which type of hormonal contraceptive increases the levels of prolactin in the blood the most. The research was a descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective observational study, in which 80 samples were analyzed using Chemiluminescence (CLIA). Additionally, information was collected through a survey, and the results were analyzed using tables and graphs with the IBM SPSS Statistics version 29 program. Of the 80 samples analyzed, 25 showed hyperprolactinemia (31.25%). It was determined by Kruskal-Wallis and Post Hoc (Games-Howell) tests that injections increase blood prolactin levels more than pills and subdermal implants, with significance levels of 0.001 and 0.006, respectively. Likewise, it was concluded that there are no significant differences in prolactin levels according to the time of use of the different hormonal methods, with a value of 0,281, nor in the frequency of symptoms when using them, with a value of 0,712.
