(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicaciòn, 2023-03) Freire Castro, Josselyn Alejandra; Herdoíza Macheno, Franklin Germánico
Linguistic taboos are based on taboos in general, with the difference that they focus on the use of certain words or expressions that are frowned upon by society. To make use of these, linguistic evasions are used, known as euphemisms, which are expressions that serve to replace taboo words or expressions. Such is the case of menstruation, which throughout history this natural act of women has been perceived as taboo for different situations of social, cultural or religious character, the taboo that is generated against menstruation is extended to linguistics making the expression of this stage in the daily social interaction of people is presented in different ways. The objective of this research is to determine the significance that linguistic taboos have in daily social interaction: as in the case of "Andres, the one who comes every month", in the different generations of the rural and urban population of Ambato. This part from the methodology of discourse analysis from a pragmatic approach, with a qualitative type of research, under the phenomenological framework of interpretive sciences to obtain and elucidate the perspectives of 16 people from different segments of the population of Ambato through the implementation of semistructured interviews regarding the topic and phrase of study in order to compare them where really interesting conclusions were reached on whether the linguistic taboo is still present in the daily social interaction of people
