Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-02) Jácome Eugenio, María Solange; Castro Solórzano, Fidel AlbertoThe daily consumption of potable water allows estimating the per capita consumption of a specific area by evaluating and identifying various situations, providing utility in subsequent activities and studies in the field of hydraulic engineering, such as enhancing the distribution system for the population. The behavior of daily potable water consumption in the respective area was studied. The process commenced with information gathering, involving 148 meters studied through simple random sampling. Subsequently, data collection spanned 45 days of measurements and 7 consecutive days of pressure readings. Regarding hourly consumption determination, a camera was installed in 7 residential houses on the meters during the same period. After tabulating the data, necessary calculations were performed, defining an average daily consumption for the area of 0.76 cubic meters per day. Maximum and minimum consumptions were also identified. Patterns of consumption displayed heterogeneous values to the mean, designating Sunday as the day of highest consumption. As for per capita consumption, it was found to be below the recommended allocation by CPE INEN 005-9-1, indicating an overestimation. Additionally, representative maps of the area were generated through GIS software based on pressure values and per capita consumptions per meter. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-02) Zabala Ibarra, Mercy Lizeth; Castro Solórzano, Fidel AlbertoThe lack of studies on the demand for drinking water generates problems in the equitable distribution of this resource, in addition, poor planning of water infrastructure works generates problems in water quality, consequently, the need arises to carry out a characterization of the consumption curve and know its behavior. It began with the collection of data on the number of users in the La Pampa sector and the rural Ulba parish, 128 homes were selected using two sampling methods: Probabilistic and Simple Random, with the defined sample, measurements of drinking water consumption were made. for 45 days. To obtain future consumption, values obtained in daily consumption were used, the Gumbel and Pearson III method, which are probabilistic methods that allow estimating maximum flows of the drinking water distribution system in different return periods. Surveys were also carried out to determine per capita consumption and, to obtain the pressure of different types of housing, a 240 PSI manometer was used. Hourly consumption was also determined by installing video cameras in the meters with the purpose of recording 24 hours during 7 days a week. As a result, the tabulation, analysis and interpretation of data was carried out, resulting in the average daily consumption of the inhabitants, average number of users per-home, consumption patterns, and home pressures, which were represented through graphs, tables and georeferencing in specialized software. The experimental work started with the collection of data in the parishes of El Sucre, Los Andes and El Triunfo of Patate canton during an optimal period of time and through a non-probabilistic sampling by expert judgment the number of houses was chosen for the study, thus reflecting relevant data allowing the analysis of patterns and variations in consumption, As for the pressures, they were recorded for a period of 7 consecutive days of the entire sample under study, with respect to the hourly consumption, a control was carried out through the installation of cameras in the meters of the selected residences, obtaining the data for their respective analysis. Once the data collection was completed, we proceeded to the tabulation, determining the average consumption of drinking water in the sectors studied, which corresponds to: Poatug of 0.527, Matriz (Sucre) of 1.231, Los Andes of 0.580 and El Triunfo of 1.385 cubic meters per day. Regarding the pressure record, it was found that the study area is within the ranges established by the NTE INEN 1680 standard. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-02) Manotoa Condemaita, Victor Alexander; Castro Solórzano, Fidel AlbertoAt the national level, the use of the values recommended by the CPE INEN 005-9-1 regulations turn out to be chosen with discretion, because the standard is not updated, however, for the Guano canton the values mentioned can be used based on the present investigation. Information was collected from the study area through surveys and daily readings were taken for 45 consecutive days on the sample to determine daily consumption. Hourly consumption was confirmed through the use of 7 video cameras in 7 single-family residential homes for 7 consecutive days. For drinking water pressure in the study area, readings were taken using a manometer for 7 continuous days in all homes. Per capita consumption was identified according to the type of housing. An average daily consumption value of 1.20 m3/day was obtained. The highest consumption was established between 07:00 and 08:00 in the morning with 494.86 Lts. The average pressure in the network is equal to 39.54 m.c.a. The average per capita consumption of the residential part corresponds to 197.74 Lts/inhabitant/day, where typology III presents the highest provision value corresponding to 206.84 Lts/inhabitant/day, due to the lack of awareness about water saving and leaks not controlled in buildings. This research allowed us to know the behavior of drinking water consumption, where the results will be used to carry out maintenance activities and design of new supply networks. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil., 2025-02) Mayorga Sánchez, Camila Nicole; Castro Solórzano, Fidel AlbertoThe micro-watershed exhibits high susceptibility to erosion and sedimentation, primarily due to steep slopes and limited vegetation cover. This situation necessitated a study to obtain its morphological parameters for accurate representation of the catchment area and its characteristics. The analysis confirmed the utility of morphometric parameters in understanding hydrological dynamics and supporting management strategies, contributing to the conservation and sustainable management of water resources, while highlighting the importance of soil conservation practices, risk mitigation, and more efficient territorial planning. The study analyzed the morphometric characteristics of the Tilulún Creek micro-watershed, located in Ambato, Ecuador, to represent this hydrological catchment using GIS tools. The process included the delineation of the study area using satellite images and topographic data, as well as detailed hydrological modeling in specific software, utilizing flow direction, accumulation, and watershed delineation tools. A morphological evaluation revealed that the watershed covers an area (A) of 125.9 square kilometers, with a slightly elongated shape reflected in its form factor (KF) of 0.32. The basin's slope (Sc) is 7.54 percent, and its low drainage density indicates that the rivers are well-incised, enabling effective territorial management. The hypsometric curve indicated that most of the watershed lies above 3500 meters above sea level, predominantly covered by páramo ecosystems. Additionally, the entire analysis was conducted using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which offer essential capabilities for water resource management through databases and high-resolution Digital Elevation Models. The detailed process described in this study provides a methodological guide for conducting similar hydrological studies on watershed delineation and the calculation of morphometric parameters using the specified software.
