Abstract

This research is developed with the theme: Kichwa Willay Segment of the channel Ambavisión in the identity of the indigenous Puruhá citizens residing in Ambato, this issue arises from personal concern as Puruhá, to see that television news programs do not take into account in their Agendas the facts that are generated within the indigenous peoples that are within the city of Ambato and much less to those who are in the rural sector, even though its signal also reaches these sectors. The Kichwa willay segment is one of those that has taken the initiative to provide access to television to indigenous peoples. For this study was taken into account Puruhaes residents in Ambato and the results reveal that this segment of news in Kichwa does influence the identity of those who are part of this nationality. The data obtained through the application of a survey, lead us to say that the segment kichwa willay generates identification and recognition in the Puruhaes indigenous people who watch this news space and who also has a great acceptance within this social group. However, this segment needs to be restructured to improve its acceptance within the indigenous audience. On the other hand, research shows that there are not enough television spaces, in which the Puruhaes can make known the richness of their cultural traits, so the need to open more spaces for people belonging to this culture, inside the grills Of television programming.
