Calidad de vida y sobrecarga del cuidador informal del paciente oncológico

Abstract

Informal caregivers are fundamental in the battle of a cancer patient, however, for them it is a radical change in the quality of life and the overload that these caregivers acquire with the news of the patient's illness because they become the resource essential in the process. Objective: To analyze the quality of life and the level of burden of the informal caregiver of the cancer patient. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 50 informal caregivers of patients attended in SOLCA aged between 18 and 55 years, for the collection of information two scales were applied, the first the scale of quality of life, family caregiver version of the cancer patient, and the second scale applied is the Zarit scale, both tests have been validated for their application. Results: 26% of informal caregivers suffer from a high level of overload due to all the functions and the hours they perform in their positions. Conclusions: The Zarit multidimensional scale provides a questionnaire to develop policies to prevent and improve the working conditions of the staff of informal caregivers
