Abstract

Introduction: The management of grief in nursing implies achieving a balance by carrying out an effective participation to help patients in the terminal phase. Objective: To determine the importance of the role of the nursing staff in the management of grief in cancer patients in the terminal phase. Methodology: Qualitative, descriptive, phenomenological research. The study participants were 10 nurses, for data collection semi-structured interview was used after signing the informed consent. The information was collected through meetings that were recorded and transcribed for analysis. Results: The nurse has a fundamental role in the management of grief with interventions related to the management ofsymptomsin the final phase of life, communication, activelistening and spiritual management. Likewise, it is reflected that the nursing staff does not adopt techniques to reduce the emotional bond withtheir patients. Conclusion: The nurse is in charge of ensuring well-being and comfort, allowing adequate communication to ensure trust between nurse and patient, facilitating overcoming problems. feelings of anguish and generate relief.
