Abstract

Objective: To describe the mechanisms of injury, surgical and therapeutic management, and complications in patients with posterior thoraco-abdominal trauma caused by a bull gored.

Materials and methods: Descriptive study of clinical case analysis.

Discussion: The case of a 17-year-old male patient is reported, who presents with chest pain of great intensity of 30 minutes of evolution, specifically in the hemithorax and right lumbar region, in addition to active bleeding. It is diagnosed as a thoracic-lumbar trauma to which a clinical and surgical management is provided, the same that evolves favorably.

Conclusions: In this case, the injury is penetrating classified as blunt point type where the mechanism of action consists of the lunge of the bull, which performs flexion and extension movements at the moment where it introduces its horns into the victim, also generating neck and head movements. , and turning the victim around him. Regarding surgical management, according to the evidence, all the procedures were performed correctly, leading to the successful recovery of the patient. And as complications in this patient, none were evidenced, however the most frequent are the following: wound infection, septicemia, etc.
