Description: | A positive balance in the Trade Balance is favorable for the country's economy, however in recent years the Ecuadorian Trade Balance has registered deficit balances despite the tariff measures that governments have chosen. Consequently, this research seeks to analyze the behavior of Exports and Imports as determinants of the Trade Balance, through descriptive, graphic and econometric analysis to determine if their behavior contributes to the economic growth of the country. For this, historical reviews and data of the study variables were used, with which the econometric models MCO, VAR, VECM, Engle and Granger Cointegration were developed in the Gretl software, to verify the hypothesis raised. Based on the results, it was determined that exports and imports do contribute to the economic growth of the country, but they are not good predictors for Real GDP as they present a relatively low R2 value. |
