Comportamiento agronómico de tres híbridos de melón (Cucumis melo) bajo cubierta plástica en el sector Río Blanco del cantón Patate

Abstract

The following work was carried out to evaluate the agronomic behavior of three melon hybrids (Cucumis melo). Which was carried out on the property of Mr. Galo Yaguar located in the Community of Rio Blanco, Los Andes parish, Patate Canton, Tungurahua province, located 3 km from the center of Patate Canton, with an altitude of 2,220 meters above sea level. Geographic coordinates are: 1 ° 28'13 '' South latitude and 78 ° 50'63 '' West longitude.

For the evaluation, a completely randomized design (DCA) with 5 repetitions was applied, the analysis of variance (ADEVA) was carried out and the Tukey significance tests were performed at 5%, where the following results were obtained: for the percentage variable germination averages were for Cantalupo Di Charentais with 99.5% followed by hybrids Edisto and Retato Degli Ortolani with 98%. For the variable length of the plant, the averages were 220.98 cm for Retato Degli Ortolani, Cantalupo Di Charentais 203.52 cm and Edisto with 186.70 cm. For days to flowering of female flowers, Cantalupo Di Charentais presented the lowest number of days with 33.20 days, followed by Edisto with 34.80 and 35.40 days for Retato Degli Ortolani. For the number of flowers, the hybrid Cantalupo Di Charentais obtained a greater quantity of 62.32 male flowers and 24.64 female flowers, followed by Retato Degli Ortolani 45.26 male flowers and 15.28 female flowers, finally Edisto with 33.70 male flowers and 16.00 female flowers. For the fruit cycle, the three hybrids presented 49 days from their fruit set to harvest. For the variable number of fruits, Cantalupo Di Charentais presented a higher quantity with 7 fruits, while Retato Degli Ortolani and Edisto with 3 fruits. For polar and equatorial diameter, the Retato Degli Ortolani hybrid presented 12.56 and 10.18 cm respectively, with 10.8 and 9.22 cm for Edisto and 9.32 and 9.86 cm for Cantalupo Di Charentais. For Brix degrees, Cantalupo Di Charentais reached 12.12 ° Brix followed by Retato Degli Ortolani with 11.78 ° Brix and finally Edisto with 11.50 ° Brix. For the plant cycle variable, the Cantalupo Di Charentais hybrid was the earliest with 116.5 days, while the Edisto and Retato Degli Ortolani hybrids presented 125.4 days. Finally, the best yield was obtained from the hybrid Cantalupo Di Charentais with a value of 53844.0 Kg / ha, followed by Retato Degli Ortolani with 41 536.8 Kg / ha and Edisto with 27691.2 Kg / ha, Due to the aforementioned, it can be said that the three hybrids adapted perfectly to the test site, but the Edisto hybrid and the Retato Degli Ortolani hybrid presented lower number of fruits per plant and lower yield in Kg / ha, in relation to the hybrid Cantalupo Di Charentais who obtained a greater number of fruits and consequently a higher yield in Kg / ha.
