La semántica de los datos académicos y su incidencia en el intercambio de información académica de la ESPOCH

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación analiza la incidencia de la semántica de los datos académicos en el intercambio de información académica de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH) con las autoridades de control y público en general. Por medio de encuestas e investigación bibliográfica se estableció que la estructura semántica de los datos académicos del “Sistema Escolástico OASis”, está definido por medio de Diagramas Entidad Relación (DER) y el Lenguaje Formal de Definición de Datos (DDL); además se utilizan, para el intercambio de información académica, documentos en formato pdf, docx y xlsx, lo que dificulta el ser compartidos de forma automática. Utilizando Methodology NeOn, Ontology Web Language (OWL), Resource Description Framework (RDF) y NeOn Toolkit se desarrollaron las ontologías Persona, EstructuraAcademica, PlanificacionCurricular y ProcesoAcademico para representar las características y relaciones de las entidades involucradas con los procesos académicos de Matriculación y Evaluación, verificando y validando su estructura, funcionalidad y usabilidad lo que mejoró el intercambio de información académica. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This research analyzes the impact of semantics of academic’s data in the exchange of academic information of the Polytechnic School of Chimborazo (ESPOCH) with the supervisory authorities and the general public. Through surveys and literature research it was established that the semantic structure of the academic data the "Scholastic System OASis” is defined by Entity Relationship Diagrams (DER) and Formal Language Data Definition (DDL); also they used for the exchange of academic information, documents in pdf, docx and xlsx format, making it difficult to be shared automatically. NeOn the Methodology, Ontology Web Language (OWL), Resource Description Framework (RDF) and NeOn Toolkit were used. With these tools, ontologies Person, EstructuraAcademica, PlanificacionCurricular and ProcesoAcademico developed. These ontologies represent the characteristics and relationships of the entities involved with the academic process Registration and Evaluation. The ontologies were verified and validated in structure, functionality and usability. These ontologies improve the exchange of academic information of ESPOCH.
