| dc.description | This project analyzes agricultural exports and production volume in Ecuador. Despite sustained growth during the 2010–2023 period, data obtained through a quantitative approach, from secondary sources such as the Central Bank of Ecuador, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), reveal a high concentration of traditional products, with bananas being the main one: it represents more than 45 percent of the FOB value of exports and more than 70 percent in metric tons exported. Consequently, it is considered essential to promote greater diversification of the export portfolio, promoting alternative crops with potential for entry into international markets and implementing policies that strengthen a more sustainable trade structure in the long term. | |
| dc.description.abstract | El presente proyecto analiza las exportaciones agrícolas y el volumen de producción en el Ecuador. A pesar del crecimiento sostenido durante el período 2010–2023, los datos obtenidos mediante un enfoque cuantitativo, a partir de fuentes secundarias como el Banco Central del Ecuador, el Ministerio de Agricultura y mediante del Índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman (IHH), revelan una alta concentración en productos tradicionales, siendo el banano el principal: representa más del 45 por ciento del valor FOB de las exportaciones y más del 70 por ciento en toneladas métricas exportadas. En consecuencia, se considera imprescindible impulsar una mayor diversificación del portafolio exportador, promoviendo cultivos alternativos con potencial de inserción en mercados internacionales y aplicando políticas que fortalezcan una estructura comercial más sostenible a largo plazo. | |
