Abstract

Description

The present research aimed to analyze the determining factors of entrepreneurship in ten Latin American economies, focusing on the interaction between entrepreneurial attitudes and entrepreneurial framework conditions. A quantitative methodological approach of descriptive and explanatory level was applied through an econometric panel data model with random effects, processing information from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor corresponding to the period between two thousand and one and two thousand and twenty-four. The results demonstrated that the perception of opportunities and perceived capabilities had a positive and significant influence on the creation of new ventures. Conversely, it was evidenced that government policies acted as restrictive barriers for formal entrepreneurial activity; likewise, the study revealed that research and development transfer failed to connect effectively with entrepreneurs. In conclusion, it was determined that cultural and social norms represented the main driving force of entrepreneurship in Latin America. It was proven that a favorable sociocultural environment, which valued business success and fostered personal initiative, managed to compensate for government deficiencies and economic limitations.
