Abstract

Description

This study analyzed the impact of cooperative loans from segment 1 on investment in the manufacturing sector in the province of Tungurahua during the period 2016–2024. The main objective of the research was to evaluate how these loans influenced investment in this sector during the same period. The methodology adopted was quantitative and hypothetico-deductive, and was addressed through descriptive, correlational, and explanatory levels. Data collection was carried out using official secondary sources, such as the Superintendency of Companies, the Central Bank of Ecuador, and the Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy. A nonprobabilistic, judgmental sampling method was used, selecting 45 manufacturing companies and 8 cooperatives from segment 1 in Tungurahua. To establish the relationships between the variables, Pearson's correlation coefficient was used, as well as a multiple linear regression model using Ordinary Least Squares, taking Gross Fixed Capital Formation as a measure of investment. The main findings corroborated the research hypothesis, namely that cooperative loans had a positive and significant influence on manufacturing investment. The research concluded that cooperative loans were key drivers of fixed capital investment in the manufacturing sector, primarily for the purchase of machinery and improvements to production infrastructure. A strong and significant positive correlation was found between Gross Fixed Capital Formation and productive loans and microloans. The research concluded that cooperative loans were key drivers of fixed capital investment in the manufacturing sector, primarily for the purchase of machinery and improvements to production infrastructure.
