Abstract
Description
This study analyzed the impact of renewable energy consumption, labor force, and gross fixed capital formation on aggregate and sectoral economic growth (agriculture, industry, and services) in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru during the period 1991-2021, with the aim of determining their relationship in the Andean Community. A quantitative approach was used with econometric panel data models, considering the country-time structure; the selection of estimators was carried out using the Hausman and Breusch-Pagan tests, which justified the use of fixed effects and the pooled OLS estimator in the absence of significant unobserved heterogeneity. The results showed that renewable energy consumption did not have positive and significant effects on aggregate growth and on the industrial and service sectors, while in the agricultural sector it had no effect. In contrast, the labor force and gross fixed capital formation showed positive and consistent effects. It was concluded that growth in the Andean region has been determined mainly by traditional productive factors, while the contribution of renewable energy is still limited
