Abstract
This thesis analyzes the series Attack on Titan as a political discourse that uses animation to reflect
on themes such as war, identity, dehumanization, and the limits of what it means to be human.
From a qualitative approach, and applying discourse analysis and content analysis, key scenes
from the series are examined to observe how the idea of the “enemy” is constructed and how it is
reinforced through fear, propaganda, and social control. The study also reviews the posthumanist
representations present in the story, especially the way in which the characters transform into
hybrid beings that question what it means to be human and to have one’s own identity. The research
shows that Attack on Titan is not only an action story, but also reflects real issues related to power,
ideological manipulation, and military structures that legitimize violence. In this way, the series
demonstrates how the creation of the “other” functions as a political tool to justify conflicts and
exclusions. Additionally, it is noted that the human body, when turned into a weapon or strategic
Tesource, occupies a central role within the posthumanist narrative. Finally, the thesis concludes
that anime can be a highly influential medium for conveying social and political discourses,
shaping viewers” perceptions and encouraging critical reflection on violence, war, and the ways in
Which societies justify their actions in the name of security or survival.
