Abstract

VACTERL syndrome or association has a low incidence of 1 to 10-40 thousand live births with more cases presented in males, timely prenatal diagnosis is the most appropriate way to determine congenital malformations and differential diagnosis allows to determine the characteristics present in the patient and therefore seek the best alternative of corrective surgery to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality of the newborn, The objective of this is to determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of VACTERL syndrome with an obstetric approach. The development of the article will be based on a systematic review through the use of scientific journals mostly from the last five years that contribute significantly to this review and update. Finally, the management and treatment of this syndrome requires highly risky surgeries when performed on the newborn, where it is crucial to perform them in the first days after birth
