Perfil sensorial en autistas

Abstract

Autism has been investigated from different models; the sensory profile is a characteristic of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There has been limited research on the sensory profile in people with autism spectrum disorder ASD. The objectives of this research were to: evaluate the sensory profile, define the dominant sensory profile, identify the hyper and hyposensitive characteristics and establish the correlation between these factors and the family structure in autistic people aged 2 to 15 years old, as well as their caregivers or parents from the cities of Riobamba and Ambato, who attend private psychological centers. This will be done through a descriptive correlational study. As results, it was obtained that in this population there is a dominant hyposensitive sensory profile (86.7%) in the proprioceptive and visual systems, the obtained data agrees with the evaluation of the parents with a higher mean of 4.33. That is to say, they have difficulty understanding the position of their body in space or feeling their own bodily needs, while in the visual sensory organ they maintain a reduced perception of a stimulus perceived by sight.
