Resumen : The iconographic study of Tigua’s paintings and their application to textile design is a project focused on the real meanings of the elements that make up the paintings, which are an important part of the ancestral history of the community of Tigua. Because through them they tell legends, traditions, customs, myths and the daily life of the inhabitants of the sector. Currently, there are several studies related to paintings that focus on the visual part, not the iconography. It is for this reason that the historical context of the community is studied taking ethnography as the methodology that allows knowing thoroughly the object studied. In addition to an iconographic analysis of nine paintings by means of the method of the author Erwin Panofsky that consists of the pre-iconographic description, iconographic analysis and iconological analysis. Taking into account that Tigua’s paintings are an important part of the country’s cultural heritage, the application of these paintings in the design is necessary so that it transgresses the paradigms in the collectivity. At the end of this project, the textile design obtained will be considered as a tool for communication towards society. Because they are embodied in different types of textiles with which garments and accessories can be made. In this way they have accessible products in the fashion market.
