Item type:Ítem, Aplicación de texturas en denim reciclado como recurso terapéutico para el bienestar emocional”(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2026-07-06) ;Morales Urrutia Paola Estefania ;Sánchez Sailema Catalina ErikaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis research explores the application of textures on recycled denim as a therapeutic tool aimed at promoting emotional well-being, recognizing the importance of developing textile design proposals that integrate sustainability, creativity, and sensory perception. The study was prompted by the growing volume of textile waste and the limited exploration of recycled denim as a medium for emotional expression within therapeutic design. The starting point was clear: to apply textures to recycled denim as a therapeutic resource to contribute to emotional well-being. The theoretical foundations of therapeutic design—specifically those related to sustainability and emotional perception—were reviewed. Work was also conducted directly on the material, employing various textile intervention techniques applied to recycled denim. The approach was qualitative and experimental. Observation and experimentation sheets were used to record what each texture produced visually, to the touch, and in expressive terms. The samples resulting from this process were organized into a textile catalog. The findings from the textile experimentation demonstrate that textures are capable of evoking quite specific emotions and sensory experiences. This highlights that recycled denim goes beyond its value as a sustainable material. As a tool for wellbeing, textile design has more to offer than has been explored so far.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de un huerto urbano con fines terapéuticos para mejorar el bienestar emocional de adultos mayores en el Hogar de Ancianos Sagrado Corazón de Jesús(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-01-21) ;Bonilla Vásconez Andrea Camila ;Medina Moncayo Andrés SebastiánUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIALThe project addresses the design of an urban garden adapted to the context of institutionalized older adults, aiming to promote their emotional, cognitive, and social well-being through contact with nature. The research stems from the increasing population of older adults, which has a growing demand for spaces and elements that promote healthy aging. In the context of geriatric institutions, interaction with natural elements is limited due to the lack of accessible green spaces, which diminishes their quality of life and produces feelings of disconnection and isolation. Using the Design Thinking methodology, an environmental and user study was conducted, identifying the need to implement a green solution as a response to the user's physical and cognitive limitations within their immediate environment. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, including document review, environmental analysis through non-participant observation, interviews, and surveys. This approach was necessary to establish a diagnosis based on the concepts of accessibility, functionality, ease of use, and stimulation, which allowed for the development of a functional prototype with an irrigation system and other functional mechanisms. The implementation of the prototype boosted interest in outdoor activities and interaction with other residents and was consolidated as a viable and replicable element in relation to its line of research, which allowed the garden to be considered as a functional complement to the environment of the elderly and responds to the challenges of the current aging of the population.
