    This project aims to create a tourist signage system for the routes and attractions of the Patate canton, in order to strengthen its designation as "Ecuador's First Magical Town." This initiative stems from the urgent need to address the current scarcity of signs, their deteriorated condition, and the lack of graphic consistency, which leads to tourist disorientation and weakens the canton's appeal compared to other tourist destinations in the country. This project delves into technical concepts to ensure tourists can easily understand the proposed system. It includes the installation of signage supports and intuitive navigation throughout the area, incorporating a design that reflects the canton's identity: its nature, culture, and heritage. This will enhance the tourist experience by providing visually appealing information and fostering a sense of belonging. To develop this proposal, extensive field research was conducted, including interviews with municipal and parish authorities, tourist surveys, and direct observation techniques to visualize the current state of the signs. A semiotic analysis and ergonomic studies were also performed. Results showed that tourists experience orientation problems due to the lack of a formal signage system, which makes it seem unreliable and in poor condition. The proposed solution lies in developing a standardized signage manual, which will define typographic features, color palettes, redesigned pictograms, materials for signage supports, location maps, and include a maintenance plan. Conclusions and recommendations are presented, establishing that signage is not merely a minor detail, but a key element for the Patate canton to consolidate its position and be perceived as a leading tourist destination.

    The present project addresses the problem of tourist signage in the Tisaleo canton, Tungurahua province. A detailed study of the twelve hamlets reveals notable deterioration and the absence of signage, negatively affecting the visitor's experience and therefore that of the community. Information was collected through interviews with the authorities of the parish GADs, signage experts, surveys of the population, and observation of the tourist sites. Implementing an efficient tourist signage system will improve its growth in the long term. The current signage, focused on communicating tourist and heritage points, has failed to facilitate the necessary orientation and information. The proposed system seeks not only to benefit tourists but also to boost the local economy and preserve the heritage of the area. The objective of this research is to propose a signage system that guides and communicates the tourist points of the Tisaleo Canton, Tungurahua Province. The approach was qualitativequantitative; the modality is field-based, where a documentary bibliographic investigation was also conducted. The research level was exploratory, descriptive, associational of variables, and explanatory. Finally, it is concluded that the fieldwork and bibliographic research allowed for an exhaustive identification and cataloging of all the tourist and heritage attractions of the Tisaleo Canton as well as the deficiencies in the signage, which were subsequently addressed with the development of the proposal.

    This degree project aims to develop a tourism brand as a promotional strategy for the canton of Archidona, located in the province of Napo, Ecuador, focusing on strengthening and positioning its four tourist bioroutes: birds, water, ammonites, and gastronomy. Despite the canton’s significant natural, cultural, and ancestral potential, limited tourist visibility and recognition are evident due to the absence of a consolidated visual identity and effective branding strategies. The research was conducted using a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods through bibliographic research, field observation, interviews with key stakeholders in the tourism sector, and surveys addressed to local residents and potential visitors. The results allowed the identification of the main weaknesses in tourism promotion, as well as opportunities to enhance the destination’s image. As a proposal, a comprehensive tourism brand was designed, supported by branding principles, visual identity, and strategic communication, reflecting the biodiversity, ancestral culture, and sustainability values of the canton of Archidona. The brand was developed under an umbrella brand architecture, integrating the four bioroutes and ensuring visual and conceptual coherence across its graphic and promotional applications. It is concluded that the implementation of a tourism brand significantly contributes to the positioning of the canton, increases recognition of its tourist attractions, and promotes local economic development, encouraging sustainable, responsible, and competitive tourism.

    Tourism is widely recognized as a catalyst for economic growth, particularly in rural regions with underexploited potential, such as Baquerizo Moreno parish. Despite its rich natural, cultural, and culinary heritage, the area remains largely overlooked due to weak promotional efforts, limited investment, inadequate infrastructure, and minimal local participation. This study addresses these issues through the design of a targeted photographic campaign aimed at enhancing destination visibility. Employing a mixedmethods approach with descriptive and explanatory techniques, the research included surveys of residents and prospective tourists, as well as a SWOT analysis. The results revealed that low tourist turnout stems from a lack of exposure, while social media plays a critical role in influencing travel decisions. Additionally, professional photography was found to significantly boost tourist interest. Consequently, a comprehensive digital campaign was proposed, featuring high-quality imagery, social media strategies, a detailed schedule, and a budget plan. The findings support the conclusion that visuallydriven campaigns are powerful tools for attracting visitors, and that advertising photography carries strong emotional impact in tourism promotion.

    This graduation project focuses on the architectural design of a gastronomic center in the cantonal capital of Píllaro, Tungurahua province, in response to the lack of specialized facilities that integrate agri-food production, culture, and tourism. The proposal emerges from a context marked by the underutilization of local gastronomic potential, the disconnection of cultural practices, and the exclusion of social groups from public spaces. The research is framed within the paradigm of critical regionalism, employing a qualitative approach and a descriptive scope. The methodology is structured in three phases: analysis of the Provincial Family Park as a reference case, interviews with experts in vernacular architecture and gastronomy, and development of the architectural parti. The findings revealed functional limitations in existing infrastructures and established design criteria based on territorial identity, sustainability, and spatial adaptability. The proposal reinterprets the vernacular patio house typology from a contemporary perspective, incorporating local materials, passive bioclimatic strategies, and inclusive design. The architectural program articulates consumption, training, and commercialization areas around a central patio as a social interaction core. This intervention seeks to position Píllaro as a gastronomic tourism destination, promote solidarity-based economies, and preserve culinary traditions through contextually sensitive architecture.

    Baños de Agua Santa es uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes de Ecuador, reconocido por su riqueza natural, sus imponentes cascadas, aguas termales y una variada oferta de actividades de aventura. Sin embargo, a pesar de su potencial, la difusión de sus atractivos naturales aún es limitada, ya que la información disponible no siempre es clara, accesible o visualmente atractiva para los visitantes. Esta falta de material adecuado dificulta la orientación de los turistas y reduce el aprovechamiento del destino, lo que hace necesaria una intervención estratégica para mejorar la divulgación de sus recursos naturales. El presente proyecto tiene como objetivo principal el diseño de material editorial para la promoción de los atractivos turísticos naturales de Baños de Agua Santa. Diversos estudios han demostrado que la mayoría de los turistas prefieren acceder a información mediante formatos impresos, como folletos y mapas. No obstante, la oferta actual en la ciudad no responde completamente a estas necesidades, lo que limita la experiencia de los visitantes y la promoción efectiva del destino. Por esta razón, el proyecto se enfoca en desarrollar un recurso visualmente atractivo y funcional que brinde información clara y detallada sobre los principales atractivos naturales del destino. La metodología utilizada combina el análisis de las preferencias de los turistas con principios de diseño editorial, asegurando un producto accesible, informativo y estéticamente atractivo. Como resultado, se espera que este material editorial contribuya a mejorar la experiencia del turista, fortalecer la promoción del destino y fomentar un turismo sostenible en la región. Con ello, Baños de Agua Santa podrá consolidarse como un referente en la divulgación de sus recursos naturales, impulsando su posicionamiento en el sector turístico

    San Bartolomé de Pinllo es una parroquia rural del cantón Ambato, la cual se caracteriza por su delimitación espacial y elementos patrimoniales. El patrimonio cultural e inmaterial, incluyendo las leyendas locales y la gastronomía, son destacados atractivos turísticos de la zona. Tiene una red de quebradas y acequias, el terreno empinado limita su crecimiento, sin embargo, ofrece vistas panorámicas de la ciudad de Ambato. El presente trabajo se enfoca en realizar una propuesta de intervención urbana en el mirador de Santa Elena, el cual experimenta deterioro, desuso y desafíos de accesibilidad e identidad, por lo que se propone un diseño urbano integral para revitalizar al mirador de Santa Elena a fin de potenciar su atractivo turístico, preservar su entorno natural y mejorar la infraestructura y servicios. La ejecución del proyecto se apoya en una metodología de modalidad aplicada, el paradigma asumido en la investigación es cualitativo con un enfoque no probabilístico, con muestreo a conveniencia. Esto arrojo como resultado, la relevancia del mirador de Santa Elena para la ciudad, la necesidad de recuperación del espacio público y las estrategias de intervención urbana aplicables. En este sentido, se desarrolla una propuesta de intervención urbana en base a la conceptualización que es un mirador urbano, con la característica que, se emplaza en un sitio natural. Este fundamento se lo utiliza para que el diseño arquitectónico se integre con el paisaje circundante. Asimismo, se plantean estrategias urbanas que fortalecen la identidad y accesibilidad del espacio público, a fin de potenciar su atractivo turístico.

    Para la recolección de datos, se emplearon técnicas como la investigación documental y entrevistas, las cuales permitieron validar los resultados obtenidos. El proceso de muestreo fue no probabilístico, permitiendo un análisis más focalizado en los actores clave del sector. Baños de Agua Santa se ha consolidado como uno de los principales destinos turísticos, gracias a sus valiosos recursos naturales y culturales. Este reconocimiento ha impulsado un aumento significativo en la infraestructura turística, que incluye una diversidad de hospedajes, restaurantes, equipamientos y servicios especializados para atender al "turista flotante". Este fenómeno refleja una planificación territorial que responde de manera explícita al crecimiento del turismo. El estudio se apoyó en herramientas como los Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG) y la triangulación de datos provenientes de observación directa y levantamiento de información. Los resultados obtenidos revelan una estrecha relación entre el crecimiento de la infraestructura hotelera y los procesos de transformación socioespaciales en la región, tales como la segregación turística, el cambio en las fronteras agrícolas y ganaderas, la evolución de las actividades comerciales vinculadas al turismo y la alteración de los entornos naturales. El aumento de la infraestructura hotelera en Baños de Agua Santa está directamente relacionado con el auge del turismo, impulsado por la riqueza de sus atractivos naturales y culturales. Desde 2016, el número de alojamientos ha crecido en un 1.175%, destacando especialmente el auge de los "hoteles-apartamento" gestionados a través de plataformas como Airbnb. Este fenómeno ha desencadenado transformaciones territoriales notables, donde muchas residencias se han convertido xvii en alojamientos temporales, lo que ha provocado una segregación turística y un incremento del valor inmobiliario. Esto, a su vez, ha tenido un impacto negativo en el entorno natural. Aunque el desarrollo de la infraestructura turística ha generado importantes beneficios económicos para la localidad, también ha traído consigo una expansión hacia áreas ecológicamente sensibles. Para mitigar estos impactos negativos, es crucial implementar regulaciones más estrictas en las zonas protegidas y promover políticas que preserven el paisaje natural y fomenten la producción agrícola en las áreas rurales.

    ;
    Fabara Sánchez, Fernando Rodrigo
    Este proyecto se basa en el desarrollo de piezas audiovisuales destinadas a reforzar el conocimiento histórico de las Quintas Juan León Mera y Juan Montalvo en Ambato y su promoción. Mediante una búsqueda profunda y detallada de información de estos lugares emblemáticos, se consiguió información de mucho interés. En base a las entrevistas a profesionales en el ámbito audiovisual y el análisis de productos, se identificó el tipo de producción más adecuado. Los productos audiovisuales resultantes combinan elementos visuales y una narrativa envolvente, rescatando la cultura que se va perdiendo con el tiempo como es el poetizar, creando así contenido atractivo y educativo digerible para la audiencia, además de destacar la importancia de estos sitios. Estas piezas no solo promueven los lugares, sino que fortalecen a la preservación sobre todo de la parte intangible de las quintas. Al profundizar el conocimiento sobre las quintas y su legado histórico, se espera que estas piezas contribuyan a fortalecer la identidad cultural de Ambato y a fomentar el turismo cultural en la región, asegurando así su legado para las generaciones que vienen con el tiempo.
