Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una colección en denim con aplicación de intervenciones textiles y residuos preconsumo para la EMPRESA CARITEX(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2026-01-20) ;Villalba Quinto Daniela Lizbeth ;Sánchez Sailema Erika CatalinaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIACaritex, located in the Pelileo district, is a local reference in the production of denim garments. However, its manufacturing process generates a considerable amount of pre consumer textile waste, including fabric scraps, cut offs, and production defects. Due to the absence of an adequate management system, these materials are discarded in the waste site of the El Rosario parish, generating environmental impacts and representing the loss of resources with high creative potential. Additionally, there is limited knowledge of innovative textile intervention techniques that could be applied to develop aesthetically appealing and commercially competitive products. This research project aims to design an experimental denim collection that integrates contemporary textile interventions and the reuse of pre consumer waste, based on the transformation methodology proposed by Kate Fletcher. To achieve this, a diagnostic study of Caritexs production system was carried out through interviews, direct observation, and focus groups with young consumers, identifying needs, preferences, and opportunities for sustainable innovation. Subsequently, an experimental phase was conducted through textile intervention samples, which made it possible to evaluate the technical and aesthetic feasibility of techniques such as patchwork, embroidery, appliques, and laser engraving applied to denim scraps. The results demonstrated strong potential for their use in future prototypes. Finally, the findings were integrated into a design proposal that outlines guidelines for a sustainable, creative, and context based denim collection. This proposal strengthens the competitiveness and innovation of Caritex within the denim market and contributes to the recognition of Pelileos local textile identity.
