Descripción : The present investigation is carried out with the purpose of knowing the methodology and accounting treatment applied by the manufacturing companies of the Latacunga canton regarding the deterioration of a non-current asset. Therefore, it was important to know that the International Financial Reporting Standards are a set of rules, techniques that establish accounting and fair criteria for the identification, valuation, registration and preparation of the Financial Statements. Nowadays, companies due to the economic changes that Ecuador is going through, are forced to apply any type of accounting regulations in force, which will allow to avoid financial lags and risks, and there the case of the machinery and equipment that comes to be the highest item in terms of assets, since it depreciates year after year without taking into account a possible unexpected deterioration that would directly affect the results of the fiscal year. The purpose of the present study is the identification of the management and determination of the deterioration in terms of the degree of compliance with the IFRS, since at present many companies are not applying it as they should, therefore the bad application or omission of the deterioration is identified in the results, taking into account that it is an expense that affects the loss of the year. The IFRS for SMEs section 27 beyond being a regulation, allows managers, owners and accountants to know in an exemplified and practical way, the recognition and measurement of an asset at its recoverable amount which entails verifying its value in use or fair value, the highest result will be taken from them to make a subsequent comparison that allows recognizing and measuring a possible deterioration. It is worth mentioning that in Ecuador all the companies that are regulated under the supervision of Companies have the obligation of application and implementation of IFRS.
