Resumen : The investigation was made at the Teaching Experimental Station "La Argelia" of the National University of Loja, located in the canton and province of Loja, it had two phases: 1) the collection of galled roots, the taxonomic identification of the nematode and preparation of the inoculum in the laboratory of Plant Protection of the National University; 2) agronomic phase consisted of growing plants of babaco associated with herbaceous repellents plants: ayarrosa, calendula and lupine, for a period of sixty days. The taxonomic identification of the root-knot nematode Meloidogyneincognita (Kofoid & White) Chitwood, was made using Taylor and Sasser (1983) technics. Herbaceous plant species used to developed efficient root - knot nematode repellent action in front to the control treatment which presented agalling index average of 53, 75 galls per plant. The repellent plant species exerted synergistic action on microorganisms of the rhizosphere plant, because all increased the number of microorganisms including the control treatment. The substances that caused repellency to nematodes were: α- Terthienyl acid in the ayarrosa, calendula and chinchil plants, and saponins in the chocho plants.
