El diseño propuesto asegura un abastecimiento eficiente, continuo y conforme a las normas, contribuyendo significativamente al desarrollo sanitario del sector La Merced N° 2The general objective of this study is to design the catchment, conduction, and potabilization system for drinking water destined for the La Merced N° 2 sector of the La Matriz parish, Patate canton. The work was developed under a technical approach, typical of a hydraulic project, and included georeferenced topographic survey processes, analysis of design parameters, source flow measurement, water quality evaluation, and the sizing of treatment units. Specialized software such as Civil 3D was used for geometric processing and terrain modeling, allowing for a precise representation of the project area and the layout of the conduction line. The obtained results show that the future population projected for a 30-year design period amounts to 421 inhabitants. This value, together with the endowments established in the CPE INEN 9-2 regulations, allowed for the determination of a design flow of 1.75 L/s. Based on the generated Digital Terrain Model (DTM), a conduction line of 4936.89 m was defined, distributed in two sections: the first, of 2200 m, designed in 63 mm PVC pipe with a nominal pressure of 1 MPa; and the second, of 2736.89 m, in Schedule 40 2 ½” galvanized iron pipe. This selection responds to the calculated internal pressures and the geographic conditions of the sector. To guarantee the stability of the hydraulic system, the need to incorporate a Pressure Break Tank (PBT) at the end of the first section was determined. The physical-chemical and microbiological analysis of the source water revealed values outside the limits permitted by the NTE INEN 1108 standard, particularly in total hardness (383 mg/L), calcium (148 mg/L), bicarbonates (415 mg/L), and the presence of total coliforms (10 CFU/100 mL), confirming that the source is not suitable for direct consumption. Consequently, a treatment train was designed consisting of a tray aeration tower, a sedimentation tank, a slow downflow filter, and a chlorination house, thus guaranteeing the removal of impurities, the reduction of solids, and the final disinfection of the resource. The technical report consolidated the topographic and construction plans, hydraulic calculations, technical specifications, schedule, and a reference budget of USD 148,138.58, demonstrating the technical and economic viability of the project. The proposed design ensures an efficient, continuous supply compliant with regulations, contributing significantly to the sanitary development of the La Merced N° 2 sector.esCAPTACIÓN DE AGUA POTABLECONDUCCIÓN DE AGUA POTABLEPOTABILIZACIÓNDiseño de la captación, conducción y potabilización del sistema de agua potable del sector La Merced N° 2 de la parroquia Matriz, cantón Patate, provincia de TungurahuabachelorThesis
