Para ello, se aplicó un enfoque cuantitativo, modalidad de campo y nivel descriptivo, empleando una encuesta a estudiantes universitarios de la carrera de Trabajo Social de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi. En los resultados se encontró que la mayoría tienen 19 años, mujeres, solteros y en relación de noviazgo. Al analizar las relaciones tóxicas se evidenció que, en la mayoría de los casos se tiene una relación saludable como en la comunicación, respeto, apoyo y seguridad; mientras que, en el control, culpa, manipulación, independencia, confianza y honestidad muestran que a veces hay problemas relacionados con estos aspectos. Por lo tanto, se observó nivel de relación tanto saludable como problemas significativos; donde la edad y estado civil son factores que inciden en las relaciones de pareja. Las dimensiones más significativas están entre independencia – apoyo y manipulación – culpa.The objective of this research was to determine the predominant factors of toxic relationships in young university students. For this purpose, a quantitative approach was applied, field modality and descriptive level, using a survey to university students of the Social Work career of the Technical University of Cotopaxi. In the results it was found that most of them are 19 years old, female, single and in a dating relationship, who are in the seventh grade. When analyzing toxic relationships, it was found that in most cases there is a healthy relationship such as communication, respect, support and security, while control, guilt, manipulation, independence, trust and honesty show that sometimes there are problems related to these aspects. Therefore, both healthy relationship levels and significant problems were observed, where age and marital status are factors that affect couple relationships.
