The research is structured by the following chapters: the first chapter mentions the theoretical framework, the second chapter mentions the methodology, the third chapter indicates the results and discussion, finally in the fourth chapter the conclusions and recommendations are presented. Work was carried out under a qualitative and quantitative approach because through the information collected, tables were prepared to carry out the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained, with a field modality because it collects real data from the investigated population and documentary because the bibliographic review was carried out, the research level was exploratory and descriptive because through direct observation it was possible to obtain information that was not clearly determined and allowed to classify the information through statistical data. The information was collected through the survey technique and its instrument, the Likert scale questionnaire, which consists of 12 questions. The population was 16 eighth, 6 ninth, 10 tenth grade students and parents of the educational institution. The results determined that the family influences the academic performance of the students because it is a fundamental element in the formation of the person, it provides support to improve the quality of life. It was concluded that parents have a stable class because they have the resources to meet the basic needs of all household members.La presente investigación tiene como objetivo “Analizar la situación socioeconómica de los padres de familia en la deserción escolar de los estudiantes del subnivel básica superior de la Unidad Educativa “Iberoamérica” de la provincia de Tungurahua”, se analizó antecedentes investigativos, que contribuyeron con un aporte significativo para su desarrollo. La investigación está estructurada por los siguientes capítulos: el primer capítulo hace mención al marco teórico, el segundo capítulo menciona la metodología, el tercer capítulo indica los resultados y discusión, finalmente en el cuarto capítulo se plantea las conclusiones y recomendaciones. Se trabajo bajo un enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo porque mediante la información recolectada se elaboraron tablas para realizar el análisis e interpretación de los datos obtenidos, con una modalidad de campo porque recoge datos reales de la población investigada y documental porque se realizó la revisión bibliográfica, el nivel de investigación fue exploratorio y descriptivo porque a través de la observación directa se pudo obtener información que no se tenía claramente determinada y permitió clasificar la información mediante datos estadísticos. La información se recopiló mediante la técnica encuesta y su instrumento el cuestionario con escala de Likert, el mismo que consta de 12 preguntas. La población fue de 16 alumnos de octavo, 6 noveno, 10 de décimo y padres de familia de la institución educativa. Los resultados determinaron que la familia influye en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes porque es un elemento fundamental en la formación de la persona, brinda apoyo para mejorar la calidad de vida.
