The research objective was to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and social skills of eighth grade parallel "A" students of the Gonzales Suarez Educational Unit of the Ambato canton, the research approach assumed was quantitative-qualitative, with the bibliographic mode and descriptive correlational level; as a technique two tests were applied to students, BarOn ICE children and Social Skills Scale. The results obtained show that the eighth grade students, through the application of the Emotional Inventory Test BARON ICE children of Emotional Intelligence, it is evident that they have an adequate level of attention to emotions, which denotes a good ability to demonstrate, describe and express feelings, which is optimal for a good social, educational and personal development.El trabajo investigativo hace referencia a la inteligencia emocional y las habilidades sociales, en el cual se ha evidenciado como problemática la necesidad de desarrollar habilidades sociales en los niños, las cuales permitirán tener un mejor desarrollo y convivencia escolar y, así también la inteligencia emocional para fomentar el control de sus emociones y reconocer la de las demás personas, permitiendo mantener relaciones sociales afines. El objetivo de investigación planteó analizar la relación de la inteligencia emocional y habilidades sociales de los estudiantes de octavo año paralelo “A” de la Unidad Educativa Gonzáles Suárez del cantón Ambato, el enfoque de investigación asumido fue el cuanti-cualitativo, con la modalidad bibliográfica y nivel descriptivo correlacional; como técnica se aplicó dos test a los estudiantes, BarOn ICE niños y Escala de Habilidades Sociales.
