A quantitative, explanatory approach was used, employing econometric models of panel data and corrected standard errors for panel data to obtain consistent estimates in the face of potential problems of heteroscedasticity and contemporaneous correlation. Statistical information was compiled from international organizations such as the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the World Bank, and UN Women. Variables such as the femicide rate, GDP per capita, Gini index, female labor force participation, and the intentional homicide rate were incorporated into the model. The main findings confirm that intentional homicides showed a positive and statistically significant relationship, reflecting that general contexts of violence also affect extreme violence against women. On the other hand, the Gini index showed a negative correlation, interpreted from the perspective of the patriarchal backlash hypothesis. Consequently, femicide was understood as a multidimensional phenomenon influenced by economic, social, and structural factors present in the region.
