Abstract: The traditional celebration of the famous Black Mama in the city of Latacunga, province of Cotopaxi located 90 kilometers south of Quito. It is celebrated in the month of September and November with two great meanings, the first in celebration of the Virgin of the Mercedes awarded as a miracle giver, the second is carried out by the Independence of Latacunga. Being the Black Mama the central character of this holiday, is the one that attracts people, both Ecuadorians and foreigners who enjoy the atmosphere, gastronomy, culture and tradition that surrounds the city and the same that is represented at the party. That is why the Black Mama costume is a subject of study from different points of view, in this work the problem is raised that the outfit of this character has undergone several changes to its original design. Therefore, by means of several data collection techniques through books, magazines, web pages, paper or interviews, you can learn more about where the cause of this fact is born. The methodology to be used will be applied in the two parties celebrated in the same year, taking into account that none of them can be left aside because of the coexisting origin they maintain. As results of the present investigation according to the cards and comparative tables made to the costumes used in the years 2013 and 2018 of the September party and the 2008 and 2018 years of the November party mention that, the four suits made by a designer and several dressmakers do not have a regulation regulated by the organizing authorities of the event in which they are determined to follow certain design parameters. That is why each character is free to choose the design, color and inputs. The dress consists of a blouse of colorful colors, a pleated or wrinkled skirt, a petticoat, a brief and twelve scarves. As accessories she wears a wig with curly hair, large gold earrings and long necklaces and carries with her a black doll called Baltazara representing her daughter.
