Abstract: This experimental research paper has the objective of collecting the drinking water consumption data of the La Matriz area in the city of Ambato To begin with this project, we divided the area of La Matriz into two zones; and we based our study in the area called La Matriz II. The experimental work is based on micromeasurements of the water demand during sixty days. One hundred randomly selected samples were analyzed. We made sure the samples were representative of the study area. In addition, the selected users in the sample were asked to respond to a survey about their water consumption habits and the underlying factors for such habits. The pressure in each water meter was also recorded for one week, and the weekly consumption of one household was used as a reference. Once the statistical analysis was completed, the interpretation of the results took place. The focus was on the average of population sizes, number of installed sanitary units, weekly consumption of water, consumption patterns, and the determination of daily peak volumes. Finally, a map with the results was generated using Geographical Information System software (SIG)
