dc.descriptionLa incontinencia urinaria es un síntoma común en la tercera edad y esta origina un impacto negativo sobre la calidad de vida, razón por la cual la presente investigación se desarrolla con el objetivo de analizar la Incontinencia Urinaria en la tercera edad, en la Provincia de Tungurahua. Para lo cual se utilizó una metodología exploratoria, descriptiva y transversal que incluyó a 152 adultos mayores que asisten a los centros alternativos que promueve el MIES y Gobierno Provincial de Tungurahua de los sectores: San Fernando, Apatug, Izamba, Montalvo, Pinllo, Santa Rosa, Atahualpa, Huachi Grande considerando que son grupos de alta vulnerabilidad. Como instrumentos de recolección de datos se empleó el cuestionario ICIQ-SF para evaluar la IU respecto a frecuencia, cantidad y afectación y un cuestionario de anamnesis para la caracterización de la población. Con el desarrollo de la investigación se concluyó que existe una gran incidencia de IU en la tercera edad, puesto que el 74.3% la padece. Además, que el tipo de incontinencia más frecuente es la mixta, que se caracteriza por urgencia miccional y pérdidas de orina ante los esfuerzos físicos. Los principales factores de riesgo masculinos fueron la edad avanzada y problemas prostáticos y femeninos el IMC (sobrepeso-obesidad), la edad avanzada, partos vaginales y multiparidad. Además, se determinó que la IU afecta significativamente la calidad de vida del adulto mayor ya que esta situación a más de causar un impacto sobre la higiene limita la funcionalidad de quien la padece.es_ES
dc.description.abstractUrinary incontinence is a common symptom in the third age and this causes a negative impact on the quality of life, which is why this research is developed with the aim of analyzing urinary incontinence in the elderly, in the Province of Tungurahua. For which an exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional methodology was used that included 152 senior citizens who attend the alternative centers promoted by the MIES and Provincial Government of Tungurahua of the following sectors: San Fernando, Apatug, Izamba, Montalvo, Pinllo, Santa Rosa, Atahualpa, Huachi Grande considering that they are groups of high vulnerability. As instruments of data collection, the ICIQ-SF questionnaire was used to evaluate the UI regarding frequency, quantity and affectation and a history questionnaire for the characterization of the population. With the development of the research it was concluded that there is a high incidence of UI in the third age, since 74.3% suffers it. In addition, the most frequent type of incontinence is mixed, which is characterized by urgency and loss of urine before physical efforts. The main male risk factors were advanced age, prostate and female problems, BMI (overweight-obesity), advanced age, vaginal births and multiparity. In addition, it was determined that UI significantly affects the quality of life of the elderly as this situation more than causing an impact on hygiene limits the functionality of the sufferer.es_ES
