Description: This research project focused on the analysis of "Eco-efficiency and Competitiveness in the tannery sector of Canton Ambato”. The methodology is exploratory, descriptive and correlational in nature; for which an analysis of the sector was developed based on the competitiveness map developed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) at a micro scale, consequently an environmental measurement was made based on eco-efficiency indicators; and finally, three econometric models were implemented, two of which are Linear Logarithmic (Log-Lin) and one Linear Regression model; where the dependent variables were participation in the market, productivity and profitability with respect to the independent variable eco-efficiency. The results of the proposed models indicated that each time companies use fewer resources to generate added value, it results in an increase in the variables explained. Therefore, the theory of sustainable development is verified, which considers that the strategy of producing more with fewer resources allows companies to reduce their impact on the environment while continuing to grow and develop.
