| Abstract: | El presente estudio se centra en definir el papel de las PYMES en la generación de empleos adecuados en la provincia de Tungurahua, esto dentro del periodo de estudio comprendido entre los años 2011 – 2020. Esto con el fin de verificar las diversas teorías que señalan al sector PYMES como una pieza fundamental en la generación de empleos de calidad para las economías. Como metodología la investigación utiliza un modelo de Regresión Lineal Múltiple (RLM) de series de tiempo estimado por medio de la técnica de Mínimos Cuadrados Ordinarios (MCO) en el cual el porcentaje de empleos adecuados en la provincia respecto a la Población Económicamente Activa (PEA) está dado en función del número total de las PYMES de Tungurahua y otras variables de control. El modelo econométrico se basa en la teoría económica de crecimiento endógeno donde los niveles de empleo adecuados en la economía responden de manera positiva al desarrollo empresarial interno. Los resultados alcanzados en el estudio permiten definir que un incremento de 1 por ciento en el número de PYMES en la provincia hace crecer la tasa de empleo adecuado en 0,36 por ciento, por lo que se verifican las teorías económicas sobre el aporte de las PYMES al empleo para la provincia en el periodo de estudio. |
| Description: | The present study focuses on defining the role of SMEs in the generation of adequate jobs in the province of Tungurahua, this within the study period between the years 2011 - 2020. This in order to verify the various theories that point to the SME sector as a fundamental piece in the generation of quality jobs for the economies. As a methodology, the research uses a Multiple Linear Regression (RLM) model of time series estimated by means of the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) technique in which the percentage of adequate jobs in the province with respect to the Economically Active Population (EAP) is given as a function of the total number of SMEs in Tungurahua and other control variables. The econometric model is based on the economic theory of endogenous growth where adequate levels of employment in the economy respond positively to internal business development. The results achieved in the study allow us to define that an increase of 1 percent in the number of SMEs in the province makes the adequate employment rate grow by 0.36 percent, for which the economic theories on the contribution of SMEs to the employment for the province in the study period. |
