Description: The purpose of this research project is to analyze the effect of receiving tourism on the economic growth of Ecuador during the period 2002 to 2017, emphasizing that tourism is one of the economic activities of great importance in the world as a source of wealth. Subsequently, this paper presents a review of some empirical studies carried out with the purpose of understanding the behavior of the tourism sector immersed in the economy and its impact on economic growth. The research focuses on the analysis of tourism, a variable that shows the origin and means used to make a trip by a tourist. In order to identify the relationship between receptor tourism and economic growth, two regression models were structured: the first was a multiple linear regression, while the second consisted of a Vector Error Correction (VECM) model. The presence of statistical incidence of the receiving tourism in the economic growth of Ecuador was recognized, considering the presence of cointegration in the variables, given that Johansen's test showed the existence of cointegration among the variables.
