Zusammenfassung: The study of a male patient of the age of 2 years, who attends the Disabled Persons Care Center "San Anian" located in the sector of Pinllo. The patient is a native of the province of Tungurahua, canton Ambato. The mother reports that her pregnancy was not planned. At 6 months of gestation, they diagnose the fetus with Dandy Walker syndrome through an ultrasound and later with an MRI. the reports of the doctors who attended him, notify that the patient could die during the pregnancy or the childbirth. The delivery was dystocic due to the threat of abortion at 38.5 weeks. Currently the patient has not developed skills in the areas of psychomotricity, language, social and cognitive. It presents characteristic symptoms: convulsive crisis, increased intracranial pressure, reduced muscle tone, cognitive deficits and generalized developmental delay. The medication you are given is a combination of Phenobarbital and Levetiracetam to help control your seizure. The patient is totally dependent on his mother and the caregivers of the center he attends. This case is presented along with a review of the Dandy Walker Syndrome, which will present an investigation covering important aspects about its symptoms, causes, intervention and treatment as a form of self-preparation to provide adequate early care to patients with this syndrome.
Beschreibung: El estudio de un paciente masculino de la edad de 2 años, que asiste al Centro de Cuidado de Personas Discapacitadas “San Anian” ubicado en el sector de Pinllo. El paciente es oriundo de la provincia de Tungurahua, cantón Ambato. La madre refiere que su embarazo no fue planificado. A los 6 meses de su etapa de gestación, diagnostican al feto con síndrome de Dandy Walker a través de una ecografía y posteriormente con una resonancia magnética; los informes de los médicos que lo atendieron, notifican que el paciente podría morir durante la gestación o el parto. El parto fue distócico por presentar amenaza de aborto a las 38.5 semanas. Actualmente el paciente no ha desarrollado habilidades en las áreas de psicomotricidad, lenguaje, social y cognitiva. Presenta síntomas característicos: crisis convulsiva, incremento de la presión intracraneal, reducción del tono muscular, déficits cognitivos y retraso generalizado del desarrollo. La medicación que le administran, es una combinación de Fenobarbital y Levetiracetam para ayudar a controlar su crisis convulsiva. El paciente cuenta de su totalidad dependencia de su madre y de los cuidadores del centro al que asiste. Se presenta este caso junto con una revisión sobre el Síndrome de Dandy Walker, el cual se presentará una investigación abarcando aspectos importantes sobre sus síntomas, causas, intervención y tratamiento como forma de auto preparación para brindar una adecuada atención temprana a pacientes con este síndrome.
