Zusammenfassung: The family business that is born from the founder's venture faces over time the risk of fragmentation caused by the death of the founder, due to the risks that the company faces in distributing its resources among the family members, considering that the family does not It is always informed of the development plans and does not agree with the distribution of the inheritances. Therefore, through descriptive research, 218 family businesses with more than six years old are analyzed to investigate this matter; The results show that the risk of fragmentation is real and is driven by the poor communication of the business family, low participation of the family in the management of the company and little preparation for the process of succession in the family business. To reduce the risk of fragmentation, strategies are selected that allow linking the business family with the productive activity of the company and the interaction of the family with the company's environment.
