Abstract: Family businesses, the main interest of its founder is to maintain itself over time, transferring its legacy to the next generations without losing its family identity. The objective of the present investigation is to identify the role of women in the generational change in the family enterprises of the province of Tungurahua, being the woman part fundamental in a process of succession in the family enterprise, that brings well-being, communication, agility in the process, and helps to create a balance between family and company. In the research, the data collection technique is the survey, taking as a sample 378 family businesses in the province of Tungurahua, where the value given by the owners to the women in the generational change was determined, the same ones that are considered leaders emotional, as well as educators of future generations and important in the transmission of values; in addition, that family enterprises are allowed to progress professionally with greater opportunity to obtain managerial positions. For the above, it is determined that the family companies intend to prepare potential successors with values through the family nucleus led by the woman, who will form the future successor without losing its essence of maintaining family ties and its emotional character.
Description: En las empresas familiares el principal interés que tiene su fundador es mantenerse a través del tiempo, traspasando su legado a las siguientes generaciones sin perder su identidad familiar. El objetivo de la presente investigación es identificar el rol de la mujer en el cambio generacional en las empresas familiares de la provincia de Tungurahua, siendo la mujer parte fundamental en un proceso de sucesión en la empresa familiar, quien aporta bienestar, comunicación, agilidad en el proceso, y contribuye a crear un equilibrio entre familia y empresa. En la investigación, la técnica de recolección de datos es la encuesta, tomándose como muestra 378 empresas familiares en la provincia de Tungurahua, en donde se determinó el valor que dan sus propietarios a la mujer en el cambio generacional, las mismas que son consideradas líderes emocionales, así como educadoras de futuras generaciones e importante en la transmisión de valores; además, de que en las empresas familiares se les permite progresar profesionalmente con mayor oportunidad de obtener cargos directivos. Por lo expuesto se determina que las empresas familiares pretenden preparar potenciales sucesores con valores a través del núcleo familiar liderado por la mujer, quien formará al futuro sucesor sin perder su esencia de mantener lazos familiares y su emotividad que la caracteriza.
