RIESGO DE SUICIDIO POTENCIAL RELACIONADO CON SENTIMIENTOS DEPRESIVOS DE LOS ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2024-10-02) Martínez Arboleda, Maria Gabriela; Jiménez Hurtado, William Andrés
Abstract The risk of suicide is the likelihood of carrying out a suicidal act, a serious issue that affects the mental health and well-being of individuals. To analyze the relationship between depressive feelings and the risk of suicide in nursing students. Method: The study used a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design, applying the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Suicidal Ideation Scale (SSI) to seventh-seme ster students. Data collection was carried out at the Technical University of Ambato, using non-probabilistic convenience sampling.Contingency tables reveal associations between suicidal ideation and key variables such as attitude towards life, suicidal thoughts, attem pt planning, and attempt execution. However, when analyzing the correlation between the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) score and the Suicidal Ideation Scale (SSI), a weak and non - significant negative correlation was found between the two variables. This suggests that, in this specific sample, there is no clear relationship between depression measured by the BDI and suicidal ideation measured by the SSI. In other words, there is no relationship between depressive feelings and the risk of suicide in nursing students.

RESILIENCIA Y RIESGO SUICIDA: UN ESTUDIO COMPARATIVO ENTRE VOLUNTARIOS Y NO VOLUNTARIOS
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2024-09-09) Velasco Macias, Ivon Nicol; Vargas Espín, Alba Del Pilar
This study aims to compare resilience and suicide risk among volunteers and non-volunteers, in response to the growing increase of suicides in the world and in the Ecuadorian context. A quantitative análisis methodology was applied, descriptive in scope and with a cross-sectional design. In addition, data were collected from 288 volunteers from a non-governmental organization and 701 young people who did not volunteer, using Plutchick's Suicide Risk Scale and Wagnild and Young's Resilience Scale. The results indicated significant differences in resilience between volunteers and non-volunteers (p<.001), showing greater resilience in the first group; however, no significant differences were observed in suicidal risk (p = 0941). This would suggest that volunteering could enhance resilience in those individuals who do not participate in volunteer activities, which has important implications for the design of interventions aimed at strengthening resilience in various social settings.

Cl. Mg.
The problem of suicide has prompted the search for preventive strategies, highlightin g resilience interventions as a promising approach to mental well-being. The aim of the study was to determine the efficacy of resilience-based psychological interventions for suicidal risk by assessing risk of bias, evidence schematization, and analysis of pre- and post-intervention scores. The systematic review was conducted with 4 articles that were selected with PRISMA methodology. The results show a low risk of bias in most of the studies, with some exceptions. The diversity of the interventions in each study was reflected in the strategies, number of sessions, stratification of participants, variables and instruments used. However, there is evidence of their effectiveness in reducing suicidal behavior and improving mental health. Nevertheless, it is crucial to move towards standardization of these interventions.

The present work is a correlational and transversal study, involving 186 adolescents between 15 and 17 years old, to whom the Family Functionality Questionnaire (FF-SIL) and the Beck Suicidal Intention Scale (SIS) were applied. The results show that there is an inverse correlation between suicidal intentionality and family functionality, at higher risk of suicidal intentionality, family functionality drops by 62%, harmony decreases by 52%, communication decreases by 54% and adaptability it also decreases by 65%, patency increases by 66%, in men adaptability decreases by 55%, in women communication decreases by 71%, the highest degree of suicide risk was 73%, and the lowest risk was 2.1%.
