Item Alteración de la creatinina asociada a la ingesta de litio por tratamiento en pacientes con desórdenes mentales(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Laboratorio Clínico, 2022-09-01) Mullo Moreno, Gabriela Alexandra; Pacha Jara, Ana Gabriela, Lic Mg.This bibliographic review focuses on the collection of information on renal alterations caused by treatment based on the administration of lithium, this article contains information that deals with various aspects that consolidate the criteria of many authors. Mental disorders are alterations that prevent patients who suffer from them from having total control over their emotional state, requiring the administration of drugs that replace this control. Lithium is a drug that over the years has been used for its better pharmacological performance when it comes to prophylaxis, control of patients with mental disorders. However, there was currently a reduction in consumption, due to its potential to cause nephrotoxicity alterations in patients who consume it for long periods and patients with concomitant diseases.Item “Determinación de cistatina c e identificación de la relación con la creatinina sérica en el diagnóstico de insuficiencia renal en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2”.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato - Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - Carrera de Laboratorio Clínico, 2017-10-01) Lagos, Amalfi Eliana; Acosta Morales, José IvánThe present research project has as main objective to determine the Cystatin C and to identify the existing relation with the serum Creatinine to diagnose Renal Insufficiency in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The study was performed with the participation of 30 patients who attend the Diabetic Club of the Pelileo Basic Hospital. Glucose levels were determined by observing that 73% of the population presented hyperglycemia and blood was drawn to determine serum creatinine and Cystatin C, and GFR was estimated by applying two fórmulas (MDRD-4 and Larson), observing that estimated GFR from Creatinine was decreased in 100% of the population while GFR evaluated from Cystatin C was found to be normal in 50%. With estimated GFR, the patients were grouped according to the stage of renal disease in which they were found. In this way, it was observed that serum Creatinine categorized patients into only three stages: moderate, severe and terminal renal damage; while with Cystatin C it was possible to categorize and effectively differentiate disease stages by categorizing the 5 disease stages (normal, mild, moderate, severe and advanced). By means of the Chi-square test, we can verify that the variables have a positive correlation, so we accept the alternative hypothesis that mentions "if there is a relationship between serum Creatinine and Cystatin C for the diagnosis of renal failure", therefore The determination of Cystatin C is a great help in measuring GFR and determining the stage of renal damage.Item Correlación entre Microalbuminuria y el Cociente Albúmina/Creatinina para el Diagnóstico de Insuficiencia Renal en Pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud-Carrera Laboratorio Clínico, 2016-08-01) López Naranjo, Ana Lorena; Acosta Morales, José Iván. Dr. B.F.This work was carried out by means of a quantitative research, mixed (camp - lab) has had direct contact with patients by applying techniques such as surveys and quantitative tests whose results have allowed us to know the sensitivity of the used tests thus determining the most appropriate method for the diagnosis of kidney failure and thus to meet the objectives set, this research was developed with patients who come to the Hospital San Pedro de Pelileo diabetics Club during the period October 2015 - March 2016 prior informed consent. For research was taken as general objective to determine the correlation between microalbuminuria and albumin/creatinine ratio and validate it as an indicator of renal damage in patients with diabetes mellitus and specific objectives to determine the values of microalbuminuria in patients with diabetes mellitus, establish the albumin/creatinine ratio in patients with diabetes mellitus and correlating values of microalbuminuria and albumin/creatinine ratio to determine the stage of kidney failure. The study was carried out through the determination of Microalbuminuria in 24-hour urine and ratio /creatinina in morning urine albumin 60 patients who attended Club diabetics of the Hospital San Pedro de Pelileo in the study period, through blood and urine tests to determine Renal failure, which resulted in that of the entire population in study 55 patients with the disease which corresponds to the 91.7% in this way We conclude that there is a direct correlation between Microalbuminuria in 24-hour urine and morning urine albumin/creatinine ratio, showing that the latter is indicative diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy and renal damage in general
