Item FUNCIONES MOTORAS Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA LATERALIDAD EN ESCOLARES(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-03-18) Moreta Chiliquinga, Cynthia Verenice; Moscoso Córdova, Grace VerónicaThis research project deals with motor functions and the relationship with laterality in schoolchildren. Behavioural preference, specifically for the use of one side of the body, begins at a very early age, which leads human beings to present asymmetries, the type of motor task performed will influence them. Evaluations were applied to a population of 24 students between 7 and 12 years of age of both sexes where the laterality and motor functions of the schoolchildren were evaluated. These tests were used with a single assessment which lasted 15 to 20 minutes. The present project has a quantitative approach, since different tests were applied, among them the Harris test that evaluates laterality and the Bruininks-Oseretsky test (BOT 2) that evaluates motor skills, where numerical and categorical values could be obtained, which were related to the aforementioned tests. It is a transversal analytical study, seeking to relate the motor functions and laterality of the students. The result was that the motor competence of the students is related to the laterality of each one of them, and it was also observed that the average of the schoolchildren is related to these two factors. In conclusion, it can be said that this research allowed us to understand the importance of the physical and cognitive process in the growth of children, and it was also possible to demonstrate that the specific lateral preferences and their correlations with laterality tend to vary considerably according to the task and individual characteristics at different ages of development.
