The main sources of metabolites are plants, thanks to it organism that can naturally produce these compounds, through it main or secondary metabolism. Through bibliographic research from different sources, information is given on twenty-nine species, two monocotyledons and twenty-seven dicotyledons, with eighty-one plant species in total, with their geographical location, their habitat and their state of conservation. The properties and uses of the alkaloids found are detailed with a total of one hundred and four. It was observed that they have a large number of properties that stand out in most alkaloids such as antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, sugar regulating, diuretic and others. However, there are approximately four thousand five hundred endemic plant species in Ecuador of which we have obtained little information, because a significant amount has not yet been able to know what alkaloids they have. The country has a varied and spectacular flora, which makes plant sources very valuable in research and for future projects that require the use of these metabolites.
