Item Análisis del aserrín de madera como filtro natural para el tratamiento del agua residual proveniente del Camal Municipal del cantón Baños(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica. Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2017) Urbina Maldonado, David Francisco; Paredes Cabezas, Geovanny AnibalWater is the most important natural resource for the existence and development of life on our planet, but the generation of wastewater is one of the oldest environmental pollution problems caused by humans. Faced with this problem has been seeking alternatives for the treatment of wastewater, which is why in this project was implemented the use of wood sawdust as a filter material for the treatment of effluents produced in the Municipal Slaughterhouse of Canton Baños de Agua Santa, place that presented the ideal conditions for the development of this project. Samples of residual water generated by bovine and porcine cattle (raw and filtered) were obtained, on which BOD5, COD and Total Solids (ST) analyzes were performed. Once the results of the analyzed parameters were known, they were processed, suggesting an average filter efficiency of 79.49% in BOD5, 70.78% in COD and 86.60% in TS. The results indicate that the wood sawdust decreases the values of the parameters analyzed, but it was not possible to obtain the necessary efficiency so that the filtered water can be incorporated directly into a body of fresh water, before which the investigation is open so that continue to look for alternatives in the treatment of wastewater generated by the processes of cattle slaughter (trace waters), until obtaining the efficiency necessary to be able to evacuate the treated water directly.
