    El ambiente familiar y su influencia en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes de tercer grado de Educación General Básica de la Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional “La Inmaculada” del cantón Píllaro

    This research focuses on the family environment and its influence on the academic performance of third-grade students in General Basic Education at the Fiscomisional Educational Unit “La Inmaculada” in the canton of Píllaro, considering the current importance of understanding the factors in the family environment that affect the teaching-learning process. The study is part of a line of research on the family environment and academic performance, directly addressing the family context as a determining factor in students' cognitive and emotional development and motivation, which makes it a significant contribution to education. The methodology applied is a mixed approach, with a non-experimental design, descriptive-correlational level, and a bibliographic, documentary, and field modality, using a census sample made up of third-grade students in general basic education. A structured survey with closed questions and an observation form were used to collect information, instruments that allowed for the identification of characteristics of the family environment such as communication, academic support, parental involvement, motivation, and organization at home. The results showed that students have a stable family environment and constant support, with most parents showing commitment to school, which can be seen in better academic performance levels, while homes with little communication and poor parental support have negative effects on learning. It was concluded that the family environment plays a fundamental role in academic performance, and it is therefore recommended that school-family collaboration be strengthened for the benefit of children's overall development.
