    Incidencia del consumo de tartrazina en personas de 18 a 30 años, en la provincia de Tungurahua

    The consumption of tartrazine for several years has caused controversy due to the negative effects it has had on people’s health especially in children. Therefore, this study determined the incidence of tartrazine consumption in people aged 18 to 30 years in the province of Tungurahua through the application of on-line surveys. The results obtained showed that most of the surveyed population had no knowledge about the subject. According to the survey, the study population consumes an excessive amount of food containing tartrazine; among the possible health effects on people who consume this additive are: hypersensitivity, hyperactivity in children, allergic reactions in people with asthma or aspirin intolerance and skin reactions. Finally, it was determined that it is of great about this additive so that their acceptable daily intake is controlled due to the negative effects to which they are prone, especially children.
