    The research responds to the variables Quality of life and mental health in the persons deprived of freedom of the Medium Security stage of the Center for Social Rehabilitation Sierra Norte Cotopaxi. The objective was to determine the incidence of quality of life in mental health of inmates, after the investigation it is determined that several dimensions of the quality of life in prison correlate with mental health, specifically the dimension Coexistence and cordiality with anxiety and insomnia, objective life conditions with anxiety and insomnia and objective life conditions with social dysfunction. In accordance with the results obtained, a clear and concrete view can be seen about the perspective that the inmates have about the quality of life inside the penitentiary; the most influential aspects in the deterioration of their mental health of the LPP are also presented. The characteristics that define the situation of the people incarcerated in Ecuador are the corruption of the penitentiary system; the economic dependence of the prisoner on his family in order to survive the confinement and the systematic violation of his fundamental rights. The fulfillment of a sentence is a way of claiming with society and the world through reeducation and rehabilitation. Social Penitentiary Work proposes and consolidates processes of intervention, humanitarian, free of prejudice and committed to the integral development of individuals. The methodology responds according to the materials applied and the nature of the data using a quantitative approach
